Piping Plover Scarf
Piping Plover Scarf
Piping plovers (Charadrius melodus), are delightful shore birds that run in bursts to feed on small creatures where the waves crash along the shoreline. Their small eggs visually blend into their sandy environments. Sadly, they are now endangered. This scarf is an ode to these lovely creatures. The scarf shows plovers in flight arranged in a circle against a minty blue background scattered with red seaweeds, baby plovers and eggs. A band of warm gray encloses the central square. The band features eggs cradled by red seaweed.
This scarf comes in two types of fabrics: 1) Georgette silk which is a 100% natural fabric with a gossamer appearance. It is vaguely transparent with a beautiful, intense colorful print; 2) Mulmul muslin which is a super soft fabric with the lightness and softness of cotton, but more durable. Mulmul has a naturally loose yarn, which has a slightly more rustic aesthetic.
